Since I have learned about the benefits of drinking plenty of water, I was always trying to drink 2-3 of fresh clean water a day. However, I noticed that sometimes, no matter how much water I would drink, I would be dehydrated – will feel thirsty, the skin would look dull, and I would just feel like I don’t have enough moisture in my body. Of course, these could by symptoms of serious illnesses, so if you experience any of the above, always go to the doctor to check. But my health was absolutely fine, so I was sure there was something going on with either the nutrition, the air conditioning, the water balance and water assimilation in my body, or all the above.
It is only when I started drinking smoothies and eating lots of fruit that I noticed that my thirst would go… In fact, I would not feel any thirst at all after a green smoothie or a plateful of fruits. Indeed, drinking a smoothie or eating a plate of ripe fruit would be more hydrating for me than drinking a liter of water! I always wondered what was the reason behind it, until now.
Gary sent me this wonderful article about gel water. The research has shown that there was actually another state that water could be in that we didn’t know about – the gel state, commonly found in plants like aloe vera, some vegetables, and fruits. The founder of the gel water was researching to help her mother with chronic dehydration and found out that gel water in many cases could be more hydration than liquid water. After using the gel water in her diet, her mother recovered successfully from chronic dehydration.
Gary and I are now always incorporating fresh fruit and green smoothies in our diets, and we sometimes add aloe vera gel (we grow our own aloe vera plants) to the drinking water for an extra hydration boost.
