Valentine’s Day is just a few days away, which leaves many of us (including myself) trying to come up with the last minute ideas for how to impress our other half.
Luckily, I had chocolate craving the other day and came up with this amazing creamy dairy and gluten free vegan healthy all-natural and raw chocolate mousse recipe! It only takes a few ingredients (if you would like to keep it simple), and takes 5 minutes at most! When I tried it I could hardly notice the difference between this raw natural alternative and commercial chocolate mousses I used to try before. Moreover, it was well received by Gary – a true chocolate and dessert expert. Hence, I would say that it is a highly successful easy dish that is quick to make, healthy, impressive, and, most importantly, tasty! What else could you wish for? 😉

Preparation Time: 5min
Ingredients:Â
- 4 tbs of raw cacao powder (I use this one)
- 1 large ripe avocado
- 1 large ripe banana (or 2 if you want it sweeter/tasting like banana)
- a pinch of pink Himalayan salt (I use this one) or sea salt
- 2 tbs (or more if you want it sweeter) of any plant-based syrup (I use this maple and agave syrup; you can also use raw honey – I use this one).
- 3 tbs of raw coconut oil (I use this one)
Optional:
- a tiny bit of raw plant-based milk if you want to make it more running
- a pinch of maca powder (I use this one)
- vanilla extract (I use this one), or vanilla powder
- a handful of blueberries or other berries (for decoration)
- zest of 1 orange (for decoration)
- cacao nibs for decoration (I use these ones)
You will also need:
- a high speed blender, food processor, or just a bowl and a fork if you don’t have those available
- 2 dessert plates/small bowls/glasses
Preparation Method:
- wash and cut avocado in half. Remove the seed, scoop out the flesh with a spoon and put it into a blender/food processor, or a bowl if you don’t have a blender/food processor
- wash a banana (or bananas if you are using more than one). Peel and cut it. Place the cut pieces in a blender, food processor, or a bowl
- optional: if you are not using a blender of food processor, I would recommend to mash your banana(s) with avocado using a fork at this point until smooth
- add coconut oil (mash it with avocado and banana if not using a blender/food processor)
- add cocoa powder (mix together with banana, coconut oil and avocado if not using a blender/food processor)
- add salt, syrup/honey. You can also add vanilla powder/extract, maca powder, plant-based raw milk (if you want it more running), or any other ingredients you would like to use
- mix it all together if not using a blender/food processor, or blend it if using food processor/blender until smooth
- serve into two glasses/bowls/dessert plates
- decorate as needed
Tips:
- you can also make a chocolate mousse ice cream by using frozen peeled bananas in place of fresh bananas, or by putting your mousse in the fridge or freezer for a couple of hours
- use fully ripe speckled bananas for a sweeter taste
- if you use more plant-based milk, you can transform this recipe into a tasty healthy raw vegan chocolate-banana milkshake (best if you can use frozen peeled bananas)
- for a creamier taste, try using plant-based cream instead of plant-based milk
