Guildford, Outdoor Yoga in Nature – Traditional Himalayan Style Yoga
September 2 @ 10:45 am - 11:45 am
We are delighted to launch our Yoga events in a beautiful new outdoor location. We have found the perfect spot for outdoor Yoga. When the weather is good, we will conduct our yoga practice next to a beautiful lake. If we have any weather issues yoga will take place in a stunning modern pavilion with large glass windows and amazing views of the Surrey countryside, birds, and animals. It feels like you are outside even though you are indoors!
Yoga outdoors is the way yoga is meant to be, if you haven’t done yoga outside before, you are in for a real treat! We will also have the opportunity to incorporate some of the exercises from our Nature Therapy events into these yoga classes. We are excited about outdoor yoga and can’t wait to share it with others!
We highly recommend combining this class with the following Gong Bath session. Please see the event description in our Meetup group.
There are many documented health and wellbeing benefits of doing yoga. “Yoga participants report better sleep, increased energy levels and muscle tone, relief from muscle pain and stiffness, improved circulation and overall better general health. The breathing aspect of yoga can benefit heart rate and blood pressure”.
Trained in India, we are teaching traditional Himalayan style yoga. Yoga is a balance between mind, body, and spirit. Our yoga practices combine all three elements – physical workout in the form of yoga postures; exercises to extend vital force (also known as prana or chi/ki) – pranayama; and spiritual practices – in the form of mantra repetition and concentration on internal states of consciousness throughout the practice.
In our physical practice, we will focus on warming up and opening exercises. Simple yet profound, they are aimed at increasing the flexibility in the body and are highly recommended for anyone with stiff joints, flexibility issues, those new to yoga, or anyone who wants to deepen their yoga practice. The result is a thoroughly profound yogic practice aimed at boosting health, increasing energy and vitality, lifting the spirits, improving mood, and increasing mental and physical strength, stability, and balance.
Our yoga classes in Clandon Wood are carried out outside in nature provided that the weather conditions allow, otherwise we use the glass pavilion located on the grounds which opens up to the beautiful grounds of the natural reserve. The aim of these classes is to benefit from the yoga practice as well as nature therapy – a combination of practices including mindfulness, aromatherapy, grounding/earthing, and exercises to develop the senses. Nature Therapy, yoga, and the beautiful natural surroundings in Clandon Wood wonderfully complement each other to bring an overall health and wellbeing boost, relaxation and rejuvenation.
For a deeper experience, we recommend combining our yoga classes with follow-up gong baths. You can find more information about our gong baths in our Meetup group The Alchemy of Sound, or on our website holistichealingtherapy.co.uk.
